The Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources’ Office of Historic Preservation has initiated a significant project known as the Migrant Farmworker Historic Context Study. This endeavor is made possible through funding from an Underrepresented Communities Grant (URC), which is part of the Historic Preservation Fund managed by the National Park Service under the Department of the Interior.
This study aims to explore and document the historical context of migrant farmworkers, shedding light on their contributions and experiences. The initiative underscores the importance of preserving the narratives of communities that have often been overlooked in historical accounts.
Community Engagement and Meeting Details
To foster community involvement, a public meeting will be held on April 16. This gathering will provide an opportunity for local residents to engage with the project, share their insights, and contribute to the ongoing research.
Participants are encouraged to attend and lend their voices to this important conversation about history and heritage. The meeting will serve as a platform for discussing how best to honor and preserve the stories of migrant farmworkers in our region.
